First of all, we would like to welcome back all PYP 7 pupils to St. Francis and wish everyone a happy new year. One in which we hope will be full of learning opportunities fulfilled and challenges met by our best efforts.
Our new Unit of Inquiry, which was introduced last week, gets fully underway this week. In this unit we will be looking at communication and the role in which technology has played over time in developing the ways in which we interact and communicate. A key element of this unit, considering how active modern societies have become communicating online, will be learning the responsibilities to make our pupils good digital citizens.
Technology has altered ways of communicating causing new responsibilities to evolve.
Lines of Inquiry:
The origins of communication; its purpose and tools used.
Circumstances that lead to the innovation and technological evolution of communication.
Social consequences of changes in communication.
Pupils have already been engaged in some thought provoking activities to help them grasp the main concepts of the unit and to show their prior knowledge, share their interests and raise questions into how we might tackle this exciting unit.
