Last week's Language lessons have looked at a variety of skills, including using a variety of punctuation. We have also started looking at features of instructional texts, with the aim to write and develop our own examples.

In Maths, we have focused on division with remainders using two methods - chunking and bus stop. See the video below for a demonstration of chunking!

Unit has been exciting last week, with students investigating where materials come from, their properties, and which kingdom they belong to: animal, vegetable or mineral. We finished our short week by completing an ice experiment. Students insulated their cubes using a variety of materials. See pictures for some of the results!

How the World Works - Peraltas

Peraltas

What a busy week we just had! It was packed with fun, learning, cooperation, sports, sportsmanship and adventure!

In case you’ve been living under a rock – this week PYP7 went to Peraltas! However, before we went, we dived straight into our new unit – How the world works.

The scientists of PYP7 discovered a strange substance from ‘outer space’ – Oobleck! Everyone loved observing the properties of the strange substance and our scientists held a scientific convention afterwards to share their findings.

Early Wednesday, it was time for most to head to Brotas, SP.  Day 1 for PYP7 consisted of Paralympic inter-house sports, with a flashlight gymkhana in the evening.

Day 2 saw PYP7 take part in Olympic sport competitions in the morning and floating on the river in the afternoon. The students were treated to a fascinating pottery demonstration in the evening, with connections made to our Unit of Inquiry.

On day 3, awards were given out, with the house captains of Falcons accepting the prize for this year’s competitions.

This week will see our unit continue with a deeper look into ‘matter’. Remember, no school on Friday.

Happy learning!
